How to make Raw banana podimas

Preparation Time : 10 mins

Cooking Time : 25 Mins

Serves: 3-4



Raw banana 2
Toor dal 2 tblsp
Red chili 2
Asafoetida 2 pinches
Salt as needed
Coconut 2 tblsp
Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
Urad dal 1/2 tsp
Oil 3 tsp


Into a kadai now add 1/2 tbsp oil and roast the toor dal and red chilli until its golden brown.

Allow them to cool well. Grind them into a fine powder along with the coconut.

Heat a Kadai and now add 1 tbsp oil and temper with mustard seeds, urad dal and asafoetida.


Now add the grated vaalakai into it and add the ground powder and combine well.

Cut raw banana into two and boil them with water for about 10 to 12 mins or until its cooked wlel.

dont over cook and make a mashed podimas.

Now take it out once its done 3/4 th and remove its skin.

Grate raw banana with the help of grater.

Heat a kadai and now add 1 tsp of oil and temper it with mustard seeds,urad dhal, curry leaves and asfoetida.

Now add the grated vaalakai into it and add the ground powder and combine nicely.

Transfer them into a serving bowl. You can mix this with hot rice,along with papad .

This will go excellent with vathakulambhu rice also.

Enjoy with your own combo of your choice.
