How to make Raw Jackfruit curry

Cuisine Style: Erode, Tirupur, Coimbatore, South India

Cooking Time: 15 minutes | To Serve: 4 | Take with: Idli, Dosa, Rice, Chapathi


Raw Jackfruit – ½

Shallots – 5

Garlic – 1 clove

Dry red chilli – 1

Curry leaves – 1 spring

Coriander leaves – 2 spring [chopped]

Lemon juice – 1 tbsp

Red chilli powder – ¼ tbsp

Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp

Bengal gram – ½ tbsp

Urad dal – ½ tbsp

Oil – 2 tbsp

Salt to taste

Water as needed

Roasting and grinding ingredients:

Shallots [sambar onion] – 10

Garlic – 4

Ginger – 1 inch

Coconut – 2 tbsp [grated]

Curry leaves – 1 spring

Dry red chilli – 1

Cinnamon – ½ inch stick

Fennel seeds – 1 tbsp

Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp

Coriander seeds – 1 tbsp


Peel away skin of jack fruit and wash, cut it into cubes then put it into turmeric added water.

Heat oil into a pan then add mustard seeds. Once it’s spluttered then add Bengal gram, urad dal and onion sauté until it’s soft.

Add garlic and dry red chilli sauté it gently.

Add curry leaves add jack fruit and red chilli powder mix it well then add water cook until its soft.

Add ground paste and salt combine well and cook until its raw smell goes away.

Cut off heat then add lemon juice and coriander leaves and combine well and serve it hot with rice.
