How to make Paal poori

Prep Time: 1 Hr dough resting time + 30 mins  |  Cook time: 20 mins   |  Serves: 4



Semolina / Rava/ sooji – 1 cup

Ghee – 1 tbsp

Salt – 1/4 tbsp

Milk – 2 cups

Cardamom – 1, powdered

Saffron – A pinch

Sugar – 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp or as needed

Almonds  or pistachios, chopped – 1 tbsp

Oil – to deep fry



Into a bowl, combine rava, salt and ghee. Add Lukewarm water if needed and make a dough from it.

Knead well and keep separate for an hour.

When preparing milk by boiling, add sugar and combine well.

Soak saffron into warm milk and add into the milk. Combine well and bowl them in low flame for few mins. Add cardamom at this stage.

After an hour now knead the dough once again for 5 mins to make fine smooth dough. Divide into equal sized balls.

Dust it well with maida and roll into pooris.

Heat oil and deep fry pooris both sides.

Press  well its excess oil in kitchen towels. Arrange well the pooris into a shallow plate. Add them boiled milk, this should be hot and soak up the pooris.
