How to prepare Mutton Kola Urundai
Ingredients for grinding
½ cup fresh shredded coconut
1 medium sized onion
5 cloves garlic
1 inch piece ginger
1 inch piece cinnamon
1 teaspoon fennel seeds
1 tbsp khuskhus – white poppy seeds
1 tbsp coriander powder
1 tbsp red chilli powder
3 green chillies
2 sprig curry leaves
5 stalks coriander leaves
1 tbsp salt
250 grams minced mutton
¾ cup to 1 cup fried gram / pottu kadalai
500 ml Vegetable oil
Just take fried gram dal or pottu Kadali and make this into a fine powder in a small mixie jar or any spice grinder.
Add all ingredients listed under kola masala into a mixie or blender and grind it into a smooth paste.
Just take a kadai and add the meat. Fry the minced mutton until its dry completely. Run up cooked minced mutton into a blender. Grind it for a couple of times and keep it separate.
Add minced meat, fried gram and ground masala powder and combine it well to form a soft dough. Apply little oil into your hands.
Make small 1.5 inch balls into your hands.
Refrigerate the balls for about 30 mins before frying.
Heat oil into a pan into medium heat. Once oil is very hot, fry up the balls into low medium flame until its golden brown.
Serve mutton kolas hot.
