How to make Masala Idli
I normally dont prepare Idli batter at home as me and my husband are alone in home so its not needed to prepare batter for both of us. So normally i buy batter from outside. I normally buy ID batter from the supermarket. ID batter is very good and perfect for preparing dosa and idli. It doesn’t have sour taste but unfortunately when i came from office it was around 9 to 9 pm. No supermarkets were open and so bought batter from nearby local shop. Morning i prepared idli for breakfast with this batter it gave a sour taste. My husband dont like sour taste in idli. Batter must have a little bit sour i accept it but that batter was too much sour. So we had difficulty to eat that idli at that time. I thought to prepare something different with that idli and so prepared masala idli . I know very well preparing masala idli with that same sour idli doesn’t change it sour taste but it can reduce the sourness. So let’s have a look on how to prepare masala idli.
Steamed Idlies-6 to 10 pieces crumbled (depends upon your family members)
Oil: 2 to 3 tbsp
Mustard seeds: 1 tbsp
Chopped Onions: 1 no
Green chillies: 2 nos
Turmeric powder: 1/2 tbsp
Salt: As per your taste.
Pepper: Sprinkle a little(1 tbsp)
Curry leaves and coriander leaves: Few
Take a heated kadai add 2 to 3 tbsp oil in it.
Add mustard seeds when it crackle then add curry leaves, Chopped onion and green chillies.
Saute everything until the onions color turns translucent
Add turmeric powder it and saute it until raw smell goes away
Then add crumbled idlies and saute it well
Add salt and pepper finally and saute it once again.
Your Masala idli is ready. Sprinkle some fresh coriander leaves if needed.
Enjoy your masala idli with kara chutney.
