How to prepare Malabar Coconut Rice


Jeerakashala rice / kaima rice – 1 cup, rinsed well

Grated coconut – 3/4 cup

Fenugreek seeds / uluva – 3/4 tsp

Pearl onions – 5, roughly chopped

Green chilies – 2, chopped

Curry leaves – A few, torn

Salt – To taste

Coconut oil – 1 tsp

Water – 2 cups


Add all the above ingredients into a pressure cooker. Pressure cook them 1 whistle. Set separate for 10 – 15 minutes or until pressure releases. Open and serve it hot with any spicy curry of your choice.
