How to prepare Silver belly fish curry

For Masala grinding:

Oil: 2 to 3 tbsp

Chopped onions: 1

Chopped tomatoes: 1

Green Chillies: 2 nos

Grated coconut: Little

Chilli powder: 1 tbsp

Coriander powder: 1 tbsp

Turmeric powder: 1/2 tbsp

Pepper powder: 1/2 tbsp

Salt as required


For curry:

Oil: 2 to 3 tbsp

Mustard: 1/2 tbsp

Chopped Onions: 1

Chopped tomatoes: 1

Soaked tamarind lemon size

Grinded masala

Cleaned Karapodi fishes




Into a heated Kadai add oil and add onions, ginger garlic paste and green chilies.

Saute until the onions are translucent.

Add chopped tomatoes and add required salt and cook it until the tomatoes gets mushy.

Now add grated coconut. Saute it well until you get a little aroma.

Now add the masalas mentioned in Masala grinding table.

Saute it well until its raw smell goes away.

Allow them to cool and then grind it well with little water.

Grind it like a paste.


To prepare Fish curry:

Add oil into a Kadai. Crackle mustard

Add chopped onions and ginger garlic paste.

Saute it well until its translucent.

Add tomatoes and add required salt until its mushy.

Now add the grinded masala paste to it.

Add tamarind juice to it.

At a boiling consistency. Add cleaned fishes to it.

Cook it well until your fish curry gets thicken (I have cooked it for 20 to 30 mins).

Karapodi fish curry is ready.

Serve it with steamed rice or boiled tapioca which goes yum with it.
