How to make Dal Paratha
Preparation Time: 10 mins
Cooking Time: 25 Mins
Makes: 3 parathas
Atta | Wheat Flour: 1/2 cup
Red Chilli powder: 3/4 tbsp-1 tbsp
Cumin powder: 1/4 tbsp
Garam masala: 2 pinches
Turmeric powder: a pinch
Salt: To taste
Moong dal: 3 tbsp
Coriander leaves: Few
Red Chilli powder: 1/4 tbsp
Green Chilli: 1
Jeera | Cumin: 1/8 tbsp
Oil | ghee | Butter: as needed.
Into a wide bowl add atta, red chilli powder, cumin powder, garam masala and salt.
Add enough water and make into a pliable dough.
Soak moong dal for about 10 mins. Pressure cook it with little water for about 2 whistles. Ensure it not to be over cooked.
Chop onions finely. Into a pan add little oil cumin seeds and onions. When adding green chillies finely chop it and
add at this stage.
Add red chilli powder and salt into this.
When onions turns pink and add cooked moong dal into the pan. If dal which has water to drain it completely and then add it. Else parathas which will become soggy.
Combine well and add chopped coriander leaves
Combine well and allow to cool completely. Make a roti dough into 3 equal sized balls.
Dust it with dry atta and make it ready.
Roll into this into a small disc. Place a tbsp of filling at the center. Seal it completely.
Dust it with little flour and roll it gently to thick parathas.
Heat a tawa and cook it up parathas on both sides. Smear oil /ghee/ butter on the top.
Repeat this for rest of dough. Stuffing was perfect for 3 parathas.
