How to make chana dal balls curry in coconut milk

Paruppu urundai kuzhambu or lentil balls are very famous in south side especially in Tamil nadu. Chana dal balls is something different. Chana dals are soaked in water overnight and its fried and immersed in coconut milk curry. A curry with coconut milk fusion gives a perfect flavor and enhances your taste buds. Lets see how to prepare chana dal balls curry in coconut milk.

Ingredients:
For preparing the balls dough
Chana dal soaked overnight: one cup
dried red chillies: 4 nos
curry leaves: little
Asafoetida or hing: 1 pinch
salt: as required
turmeric powder: 1/4 tbsp

Oil to fry balls.

To prepare curry:

Oil: 2 to 3 tbsp
Green chillies: 1 to 2 nos
Chopped onions: 1 no
Tomatoes chopped: 2 no
Chilli powder: 1 tbsp
Sambar powder: 1 tbsp
Coriander powder: 2 tbsp
Tamarind water: one lemon sized tamarind soaked in water
Coconut milk: one cup
Salt: As required
Asafoetida or hing: one to two pinch
Coriander leaves to garnish
Fried chana dal balls

Method:

Soak the chana dal overnight.
Now grind chana dal with turmeric powder, curry leaves, dried chillies, salt and hing.


Grind it with some water.


Dough is ready and let’s prepare balls from it and fry the balls until it comes golden brown.


To prepare curry In a kadai add oil, mustard seeds, curry leaves and onions.


Saute it well
Add chilli powder, garam masala powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder.


Saute it until its raw smell goes off.
Add tamarind water to it.


Close it and cook for a while.


Add coconut milk to it.


Now add fried balls to it.


Add salt to it and a pinch of hing and add coriander leaves


Cook it for about 10 mins.


Its done have it with rice, chapathi, naan, idli or dosa.
