How to prepare Beetroot Pachadi

Beetroot – 1 ( Medium sized)
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Curd – 1/2 cup (beaten)
Salt Рto taste 
Oil Р2 tbsp

To grind
Grated coconut – 3-4 tblsp
Mustard seeds – 1/4
Cumin seeds – 1/2 tbsp
Green chillies – 2 nos

For Seasoning
Mustard seeds – 1/4
Curry leaves – 1 spring
Shallots – 2
Dry red chilly – 1


  • Wash up and peel the beetroot and grate it
  • Corasely grind all the ingredients under “To grind” and keep it aside
  • Take up the grated beetroot in a pan, add up the required salt and cook it for about 5 to mins
  • Add the ground paste to the beetroot. Mix it well and cook it for about 5 mins
  • Remove it from gas and cool
  • Add up beaten curd and mix it well
  • Finally add heat oil in a small pan and pop the mustard seeds and curry leaves. Add up chopped shallots and red chilli. Fry until the shallots turn golden brown.
  • Just pour the seasoning on top of the beetroot and Enjoy with your white rice.
