How to make Beetroot kozhukattai

Many people dont like to eat Beetroot even myself. It has a very good health benefits. Dont ignore Beetroots. I have decided to eat Beetroot by preparing Beetroot Kozhukattai. You can do many dishes with Beetroot such as beetroot mooru Kozhambu, Beetroot pachadi, Beetroot dosa, Beetroot idli, Beetroot idiyappam and more. Now we can see the preparation method of Beetroot Kozhukattai.


For making flour:

Rice Flour: 1 cup

Salt: 1 tbsp

Hot water little

Grated Beetroot

For Seasoning: 

Mustard seeds: 1/2 tbsp

Dried red chillies: 3 to 4 tbsp

Curry leaves: few



Take a bowl add a cup of rice flour.

In another pan boil water into that add grated beetroot.

Boil it well so that the color of water must change.

Once its done remove it from stove and strain it with strainer.

Add the strained beetroot water into rice flour with little salt and prepare a dough.

Dough must be as usual you prepare like a normal kozhukattai.

From the prepared dough make small circle shaped dough in small pieces.

Steam it in idli cooker for 10 to 15 mins

Once kozhukattai is done take a pan add oil, mustard once mustard seed gets cracked add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and dried red chillies saute your kozhukattai well in the seasoned pan.

Yummy beetroot kozhukattai is ready.
